I always laugh when these stars say they have a "responsibility" to speak out, given their status, etc. I mean, not that they have that position for another reason, I dunno, to entertain? I mean, I might ask a plumber his opinion about whether he thought my roof needed to be replaced, but would I use that as an "expert" opinion? I think not. In this country, they have the right to speak their minds and have an opinion, but it doesn't mean that they can require us to listen or even validate them.

When celebrities stand up and assume that they have a "voice" simply because they sing or act well, that really bugs me.I really liked your post at Pyromaniacs. I didn't comment there because there was too much testosterone flowing :-)

Kim, you remind me of the title of Laura Ingraham's book: Shut Up and Sing.As to the other thread, maybe what it needs is a little estrogen. (You made me say that.) I say, weigh in, girl. Your input's appreciated.

Dan:Actually, I do indeed have a wee opinion but that Blue Raja guy scares me worse than Frank ever did.Besides, if you took a poll, I'm sure anyone would tell you that no one wants more estrogen.I recently read a commentary by F.F. Bruce, and book on early church history. The church history book was really great, but I did find the commentary waaay over my head.

Yeah, I get that, Kim: if you write him a twenty-word response, he'll surrejoinder with 500. I've been putting it off, but am about to respond to him. He's already close to having written responses totalling as many words as my post; this will likely push him over the rim.I hope you don't seriously mean that at least we main Maniacs don't want sisterly interaction. I won't speak for the others, but I've really loved reading you, Libbie, Carla and others of the ladies. If you get grief, say "Dan said I could."Unless you're shovelling out that Gary DeMar stuff. Then, you're on your own.(c;

Dan:The "main maniacs" (I like that term!) are not the problem most of the time (even Frank). You've all been true gentlemen.

Dan,Your comments about Santana and Hendrix brought an old memory to my mind. My brother had purchased an album - If I remember correctly the group's name was "Monster". There were some lyrics in the album that went""Who gives youThe right, Hey YouTo stand there and tell mewhat to doHEYwho gives you the powerto stop me from livinglike I do.Well, one day my brother must have been having a bad day at school or something because he came home with an attitude. My mom said something to him that irritated him and for some reason He decided that he could use those lyrics on her (a very big mistake). Anyway, he pointed his finger at her and said "Who gives you the right to stand there..." - That was all he got out of his mouth before she had slapped his face. I learned a very valuable lesson that day. Not matter what we think we learn from "stars" if you try and use them on your mother...you might being seeing stars. My mom was a very respectable lady who loved God and wanted to make sure we were raised well.Rick

I think there is more about resurrection in the Psalms than you have suggested. E.g. Psalm 49. This might give rise to Jesus' critique of the Sadducees that they know neither the scriptures nor the power of God.There are many other psalms where the life of the covenant is more than the present age - but time's linearity is by no means assumed. A vertical rather than a horizontal time could be in view (ask the super string theorists why there are 6 hidden spatial dimensions but only one of time in their theories.)
